Ronald A. Smith O.B.E. (1909 - 1989.)


Marital Status: Wife Anne, married at St. Paul's Church, Glenorchy, 1931
Occupation: Cadbury Fry Pascall, Claremont, Tasmania, 45 years.

Employed as a general hand and advanced to Production Manager and later moved to Victoria to set up factory acquired from McRobertson's. Moved to Coff's Harbour, N.S.W. upon retirement. On death of Ann, he returned to Tasmania and lived with his daughter, Beverley.

Rotary Service: Joined Moonah Club in 1961 and was appointed by District Governor to establish Glenorchy Rotary Club and became foundation President.

Community Service: Both Ron and Ann devoted many years to local garden clubs. He was well qualified as a judge of floral displays and he made significant administration contributions.
Ron was also a Board member of the Golden Years Club.
Ron was recognised by Glenorchy Council for his efforts in the community.

Summary: A man of vision and the ability to foresee important decisions with his business career and strong views, exemplified by the establishment of our Club.
